My way or the highway- Authoritarian parenting.
This style of parenting is characterized by, high demands on Johny and Jane but low responsiveness to their needs.

– Provide little nurturing and feedback
– Harsh punishment and negative feedback
– Yelling and corporal punishment is a norm.
Outcomes
– Jane is fearful and Johnny is shy.
– They associate obedience and success at school with love.
– Jane is often Depressed while Johny is ever anxious.
– Johny is aggressive to Jane and pets at home.
– They both suffer low self-esteem.
Scenario.
Johny and Jane have a very harsh mother who was raised by a father, who’s an x-army officer. Mama Johny has it that she cannot allow ‘children’ to control her just like the father did not allow.
Mama Johny sets all rules and schedules. Has academic demands on each of them since she was a bright student and runs a law firm. She wants Jane to end up as a lawyer like her and Johny to strive and get to be a doctor like the dad!
Jane finished her KSCE in 2024. She got a B. She is so stressed and depressed. Mama Jane is insisting that Jane Should re-sit for the KCSE exams in July and bring home a Plain A.
